Suse 10.0 ethernet stopped working after incomplete update
I have been using suse 10.0 for quite some time now with my realtek 8169 ethernet controller, and also the update process. No problems whatsoever.
However, yesterday evening, I launched another update, amongst others to update a security issue in some ethernet module. The update did not complete though, it hung itself, at least it seemed like that (no response after 5 minutes or so), and I finally had to stop it. A mistake, I realize now. Because that destroyed my network connectivity. I tried to remove the faulty driver (two ethernet controllers were listed, one configured, the other one not configured), which did not work. It would not go away, I removed the proper one instead. Yet another mistake. After a reboot, I could finally remove the new unconfigured driver. Then I tried to install a the 8169 driver. But it was no longer listed! Now my question: What to do ? Reinstall linux? I hope not. Maybe someone can give me some advice. Oh yeah, I have no internet connectivity at all on my linux box, this is written from my windose machine. Thanks Gileb |
Sorry guys
Sorry guys, I had so many browser windows opened, I posted it in the wrong section. I'll repost it in the ethernet section.
