Suppress Iptables' Output

On my RH9 server, when nobody is logged in, there are a bunch of lines of text that appear after a while all over the screen. I guess they are from filtered hits since they list src and destination addresses and all kinds of other network info. How do I get it to suppress these messages? I just want to be able to have a login prompt and not have to press enter to get to a login prompt.

Note that if you get undesired logging direct to consoles, this is not an iptables or Netfilter problem, but rather a problem caused by your syslogd configuration - most probably /etc/syslog.conf. Read more in man syslog.conf for information about this kind of problem.
