supposedly simple question on installation of amarok
i have downloaded amarok 1.48 for suse 10.1 and i have tried to install it a couple of times. what happens is that i always end up with v1.38 because yast2 downloads it. i have deleted every source in "installation sources" and just double-click on the .rpm-files i have downloaded. i cannot make them an installation. kpackage and zen do not work either. how can i install amarok then??
thank you very much & best regards
ungua
p.s.: i deleted amarok in one attempt, too. no i use "xmms" to listen to music, but i really want to upgrade amarok...

Supposedly simple qeustion on installation of amarok
Another possibility is the way yast deleted a program
For instance I use avast virus scanner the first line was corrupted
I deleted it with yast and install again
The first line was still corrupted and he still remember my subscribe number to avast Then I find out that after deleting the program there was
still a hidden folder : after deleting manual the folder and install again I got fresh installation He ask for my subscribe number again and corrupted line was gone,Maybe you have the same problem
thank you for your reply! where did you find the hidden folder? i recognise that amarok still has the "collection" of music* when i install it again, so that's a possibility. but it shouldn't be in a way for a proper update?
regards
ungua
*this is the reason why i want to update: after selecting "build collection" instead of just playing from my "all files"-playlist amarok crashed every single time i wanted to listen to a song. and i didn't make any difference between albums anymore, stuuupid.
sorry for the long delay, i was really busy. i followed your advice and deleted every trace of amarok, including the folder in /home/ungua/.kde/share/apps/amarok. still, an installation won't work: see screenshot. this is really hard to understand, yast won't work for me. neither kpackage or zen.
i'm offline until early april but would really appreciate any tips on how to solve this. i still want to upgrade the whole operating system but ... takes time.
