Support for sendmail (Pay Rates)

Can anyone give me the name and number of a company that I can call to get support on Red Hat Linux 9 for the configuration of sendmail?

I have tried and tried to get an email server set-up for an in-house email server and I simply cannot get sendmail to work. correctly. Everything else, webmin, squirrellmail (except for sending email), apache, samba, dhcp, you name it I have configured it and made it work correctly for me. Sendmail just kicked my butt and I give up.

Anyone have any suggestions for support?

Won't Redhat themselves offer such a service? Alternatively don't use sendmail, use another MTA such as qmail, exim or postfix they're all a damn site friendlier than sendmail!

cheers

Jamie...

yeah I guess they will. I was kind of shopping around for different rates and to hear from you guys which support seems to be the best.

well I have posted a couple of messages to this board about smtp problems in sendmail. I kept getting the error recipients must be specified.

So now I have uninstalled sendmail and installed the postfix rpm. How do I configure this and what should I get when I telnet to port 25?

I got postfix installed and I have set the options I feel That i need but when I start it up, it says ok but it never shows up when I do a ps aux. Also, how do I get it to be accessed by port 25 on my machine. Do I need to edit xinetd.conf or something?

when you telnet to port 25 you should get a connection, and MAYBE something like "escape charactehr ^[: . If you get anything besides timedout or connection refused or whatever, then it is running. Also with sendmail (maybe 2 late for this) I found that there are only like 2 things you have to do just to get it to send and recieve mail. 1. put in a valid domain name at the bottom of sendmail.mc and 2 comment out that line that says "comment this line out if you want to recieve mail over the net work" and i guess 3. make sure port 25 is accessible. after that you just do the #m4 sendmail.mc > /etc/sendmail.cf and restart sendmail #/etc/init.d/sedmail restart (or just start if its not running) and it should work. I think people get into trouble when they try to edit sendmail.cf by hand.

I did all the stuff to sendmail by using sendmail.mc

I did get everything working by installing postfix and making a couple of changes to the configuration files.

Everything works great now. I will just have to remember to install postfix instead of sendmail from now on.
