supermount (or the lack of) 2.6.7


I finally succesfully compiled and got 2.6.7 going today with Mandrake 9.2 (this was stock kernel from kernel.org).. and i finnaly realized supermount is out of 2.6.7 so what can a person like me do to remedy this.. i've googled so no body slap me yet and all i can find is talk of some patches here or there but i cannot find these things anywhere.. could anyone PLEASE point me in the right direction or let me know what i need to do..

this sux having to mount everytime i change a cd

Uh... I think you have to find a Mandrake RPM for the latest kernel sources, which are probably prepatched by Mandrake and thus contain supermount.

just tried that.. got 2.6.7-1sds15mdk and still no supermount.... PLEASE HELP

if anything else i'll just stick to having to mount cds.. on the other hand though i wont be able to burn anymore in linux cause you cant mount
blank media or music cd's from what i understand..

I think you can burn CDs...

Maybe ask a moderator to move this to the Mandrake section, or just ask this question again there.

lol.. u cant mount blank cd's because they are.. um... blank.
no filesystem to incorperate !

this is meant to happen, and will not effect burning at all !

Not sure how much this will help you? stock Mandrake 10 with kernel 2.6.3-7 uses Magicdev by default, but supermount is still included,

supermount can be started with
# supermount -i enable
# mount -a

and to disable
# supermount -i disable

excuse my ignorance.. i was just going off what info i've been able to follow on this subject.. i am still only a wet foot linux user..
i've got up to 2.6.7-1sds15mdk without a hitch and just mounting cd's as needed using some sudo hotkeys i've made. no bigge there.. could anyone point me to where i might find info (if there is any needed) on burning cd's then? or will the software still do all the trix? like k3b
