Are you the only user on the system?

Pedroski 01-09-2005 02:04 AM

Only little ol' me!
I'm beginning to think this is a virus or so. It starts when I go online. I have the system monitor on, the cpu usage shoots up and stays there!

student04 01-09-2005 03:27 AM

I doubt it is a virus - very low chance. Do you have a firewall up? What do you mean by "go online"? Open a webbrowser, or connect to the internet?

Pedroski 01-09-2005 05:20 AM

When the wvdial connection comes up, the cpu goes to 100% and stays there, even after disconnecting!
I've just done a complete reinstall, from scratch. Seems to be working now, but I'd still like to have an explanation of the above. Who or what is requesting what looks like a call for an su shell???
