strucking sound in xmms

hi
im using xmms-1.2.7. i hear some struck sound while playing some songs. is there any plugin to auto correct it?

Bruce Hill 02-09-2005 11:23 PM

Perhaps everyone else understands, but what do you mean by "struck" sound?
Do you mean a sudden or violent sound? An increase in volume?

gobi_dgm 02-09-2005 11:39 PM

no increase in volume but it sometime skips fraction of sec.. i couldn explain it further.
it occurs in only few songs ...

Bruce Hill 02-09-2005 11:59 PM

I've experienced that playing some .mpg video files with different players. Xine didn't skip at all, but noatun and kaboodle skipped.

Since your instance only occurs in a few songs, is it possible that those CDs are dirty or sratched?

gobi_dgm 02-10-2005 12:05 AM

im not very sure about that ... i just transferred them from other hard disk..
is there any way to prevent in case if its not cd problem..

This is happeng because u have a small buffer.Open xmms,go to preferinces(Cntrl+P),and iin the output module choose configure(there are aRts,ALSA,OSS...),and increase your buffer

This is just a stab in the dark. Did you copy from windows hdd. If you did, maybe try running defrag and copy again. I have my music on fat 32 partition and this seems to help.
