Streaming Live Video using Webcam
I am currently working on a project that will stream live video from a robot over a wireless medium. We have a wireless G connection. I am using the Spca5xx Webcam driver. I am interested in finding out the best way to go about compressing the video coming off the camera so that it can be sent over the wireless connection using UDP. I currently have a Java applet running on the webserver on the robot that can view the camera. We are using the Gentoo Linux Distribution. If you need more information, just ask.

vlc has all the goodies for what you want and then some.

Mpeg-4
It looks to me like it can only stream a precompressed file. I do not have my wecam video compressed to MPEG-4. I am wanting to stream live video, how can I go about doing this if the video is not already compressed on the fly with MPEG-4?
Any help is appreciated. |
i'm not tooo familiar with vlc, nor streaming, but when i ran the wizard i got a screen where it offered 'raw' for encapulation... i think this was for input..and output.
so you may want to investigate this prog a little more.. it is highly established and therefore very stable. good luck, keep us abreast.. |
