Strange Kernel Keyboard Problem

Good evening everyone:

I'm having a strange kernel compile problem using Slackware 10 and my Linux from Scratch system.

Anyways, in each system I was planning to re/compile linux kernel 2.4.26. Initially, I decide to use the current config file from Slackware. It compiled successfully and symlinked the kernel and system.map file and rebooted the system.

On the LFS and Slackware system, I get this error:

timeout - at keyboard not present (ed?)

The weird thing is that the keyboard works on slackware despite this error, but doesn't work on my LFS system.

Another thing I find funny is that when I use a slackware cd to boot into LFS using the bare.i kernel:

boot: bare.i root=/dev/hda2 noinitrd ro

the keyboard works once the login prompt appears.

I initially thought it was a kernel compile problem, but the things that worked/don't worked - boot kernel causes keyboard to work; identical recompile produces timeout message on both, but doesn't work on LFS - is causing me to question that it might be something else.

It might also help that I am using a Toshiba A75-S209.

If anyone can help me out here, it will be appreciated.

Sounds like Slackware's initrd has the drivers for your keyboard, and your LFS build has the drivers but doesn't have them in the initrd. Did you perhaps forget to mkinitrd on the LFS box after your build?
