Stopping X from starting
I am trying to install a new video driver and Linux is telling me that I can't do it while in X. I have done some searching in this server and all I can find is people having problems starting X. Could someone help me to get my system to boot to the text mode so I can break this thing? Then I will post again crying for help to get it fixed?
Any help would be great! Regards, Kenny |

Have you used runlevel 3 before? Or changed it's configuration? That shouldnt happen...

I got it. Thanks. What I did was what you said, except I left it in runlevel 5, installed the driver, modified the XF86Config file, then restarted X. Now I have OpenGL.
Thanks again for your help. Regards, Kenny And I didn't even break it. |
