Hi,
Just wondering does anybody know how to stop alsa beeping at startup when
it trys to restore mixer settings and other things?I know its probably a good sign but
it gets annoying late at night.
ok, i've checked the web, i've checked man, i've checked info and i've checked my own configuration. ....
I know Linux beeps on startup through the PC speaker, so i unplugged that in my case ... test it by unplugging your speakers and see if it still beeps (to save you playing on the inside for the case).
IF it definitely is the soundcard speakers that beep. Check your /etc/rc.d/ scripts ... and see what it uses to run alsactl (switches, etc) or just after it if there are any commands that might cause a sound to be emited.
If you really can't find a way to stop the beeping ... turn the volume on the speakers down during boot, if it wakes people up.
hi
I will check out those rc scripts as you suggested and get back to you.
As for turning off the speakers-i cant because im using a laptop
and the mute button i havent been able to get working yet so
that option is kinda difficult.
