Whenever I install the server software for Red Hat 6.2 linux I cannot access the GUI by typing the startx command from the command line. Is that normal? Thanks!!

I would say if you did a "server" install, it doesn't install X-windows.

I forget what choices redhat has. I always install everything.

Yeah, if you did a server install by default, most of the time and most distro's don't install X windows. You will need to install yourself or do a custom install during the initial install.

Uh.
Andy ou have to remember about one thing.

Choose either KDe or GNOME, if you'll install both then use x-specific commands
( like startkde ).
