Start-up tune for Linux?

Hi

Is there a default start-up tune that plays every time you boot Linux up?. For example, when I boot Windows XP I get the old "systemstart" tune. If there is'nt a default one, is there a way to add my own?

- Thanks

Don't know about Gnome I don't use it, But from the KDE control center, click sound & multimedia in the left pane and select System notifications. In the right pane from the drop down menu select KDE system notifications and in the menu below that you will see........KDE is Exiting and KDE is starting up. Highlight either or and put a check in the box next to "play a sound" If you have your own sounds in your home directory like I do......
/home/<user>/.kde/share/sounds/

hope this helps........:o

Yes, it works great, thank's for all your help!. Now if I could just get Java to work on Mozilla (what a nightmare)...

I can't do Java in mozilla.. you would think they would have to plug-in built in..

Java is proprietary software. Someone would have to pay for it, like in Windoze (or steal it), for it to be "built-in" to a Linux distro. It is easily installed, and a Google or LQ search should give you the tools to get it done.

Its somthing that is really needed..

There are several threads here on how to get java to work in mozilla. I managed to get it working in mine in no time. Search & then ask back if you have any questions.

I am about to switch my main brower to Mozilla Firebird.. does Java work the same way in that has it does on Mozilla?

Mozilla, and Mozilla Firebird, are not "mind browsers." They are "web browsers," and as such, will not detect anything in your mind ;)

Why don't you search LQ and Google and then let us know how it works :)

Sorry for the typo, I meant Main Browser..

I am about to go on a quest to get Firebird and Java installed and going...
