Let me just admit right now that I too am a newbie. There now I feel better.
I've been trying fo rsome time to get SO5.2 installed.
When I do: ./so-5_2-ga-bin-linux-en.bin /net
I get: libone569li.so : bad CRC (some Hex details...)
libsvt569li.so: bad CRC ....
three more lines like this
./so-5_2-ga-bin-linux-en.bin: could not unpack file "/tmp/sv031.tmp/f_0000
(Note that the tmp folder name indicates how many times I've tried this and variants!)
I have also tried: ./so-5_2-ga-bin-ga-lnux-en.bin -extract
This is somewhat more successful in that it extracts a ton of files (f_0000 through f_0412, a README, a LICENSE, an executable setup and setup.ins). When I then try: ./setup /net
I get: glibc version: 2.2.4
That's as far as I've gotten. If anyone has any suggestions I will be most appreciative.
P.S. Am I killing myself for no good reason - should I just stick with koffice and not worry about Staroffice? I appreciate any thoughts you might have here also.
