star office

i'm not sure the version #, but its a fresh install of redhat9 with all available updates. i was attempting to use the mail program from star office got it set up and can now can send and recieve. heres where my problem lies: i can right click a message and choose "delete" but when i do that it merely puts a line thru the message. but does not move it from the inbox. when i attempt to drag it to the trash or right-click it and choose "move to folder" it gives me an error that the folder does not exist and it does give me the folder name (which is an mbx) and gives me the location of where the folder should be. and the first few times i tried dragging the messages over they never would even appear in the trash, but now it at least does that much. but i still have the marked out messages in the inbox and also now the trash. but if i right-click trash i cannot choose to empty the trash. i can drag the messages to any other folder with no problem. is this a known issue

I don't know if this is an issue.... I use Ximian Evolution to send/receive messages and when you press delete it also puts a line over the message. To really delete them, we have to go into "Actions", "Empty Trash" in the toolbar. See if there's any option like that :). Also, ximian evolution is a great tool. It's also shipped within RedHat 9.0 CD's. Perhaps you would like giving it a chance.

Good luck

hehe :) Let's hope it will help... or... that you will like Evolution ;)

oh i do already. it looks and seems to fucntion exactly like ms-outlook. and i was also suprised that it saves the folders as an mbx file. which makes me think that maybe you can copy those folders from a windows computer...? do you know if thats possible or has been tried?

Mega Man X 07-26-2003 12:51 PM

I've not tried. I don't have Windows anymore, but it would surely help a lot of users if you can do it. Good idea by the way :)
