Hi....another one from me...This time, my question deals with X window system....
Many times I have tried to install linux on machines whose hardware configuration is not known to me...today was one of such times...If I am not sure, what should be the values that I should give to various parameters like VGA card, Monitor and most importantly the HSYNC and VSYNC values for a standard 14/15 inch monitor...These days I am exploring Mandrake 9.2 and today X didn't run on a machine on which I installed mandrake...
I would like to know if there are any generic settings for VGA Card, Video RAM, Monitor and its HSYNC and VSYNC values that I can just stick to and run GNOME and KDE on my linux box.....(Of course, I have used both xf86cfg and xf86config, but didnt have much success..)..so pls guide me..
