SSL mode in apache

Hi!

I am running Apache 2.0.40 under Redhat9.0.
I installed the package mod-ssl-2.0 for apache to run SSL mode.
However, when trying to have both http and https websites on the server(same daemon), I have a problem.
It listens to port 80 and 443...ok but all virtual hosts with the directive SSLengine off do not work with http://....... but we have to enter https://.
So globally, all sites have to be entered https://website in the browser and none work with http://

Can someone help?

thanks,

macadam
