SSH & tunneling


By default, SSH seems to listen on the local host interface when creating an incoming tunnel. I would like to be able to connect to a service running on the client machine, from a machine on the same subnet as the Linux SSH server. Is this behavior by design, and is there a way of changing this? If this isn't changeable, is there another method of doing this using the SSH tunnel? Thanks!

basically it doesn't matter where the service runs as long as there's a route to it... you can connect to the ssh server on the local subnet and do a port forward to any machine on the internet (as long as the ssh server has internet access). note however that some services are using more than one port (like ftp) or dynamic port addressing so you'll have to do some tricky stuff...
