Squirrel Mail sending problems

Hi all,

So got the mail server up and all is good apart from the other day I wanted to send a mail via the web front end and it came back with the follow error on the page

Quote:

Message not sent. Server replied:

Syntax error in parameters or arguments
501 5.1.7 Bad sender address syntax
I double checked the email address was correct. Then I waited until I got home and decided to log on to a terminal session and run a few tests.

It seems I can send mails from the command line to anyone in the world and I get a sent message with a nice big OK in the logs.

I logged onto Thunderbird on my client pc and sent a few mails whilst checking the logs on the terminal... the same... sent and OK.

So looks like squirrelmail is causing me some headache it seems :)

Any ideas or suggestions?

Seems squirrel mail isnt to blame... I have checked the logs whilst attempting to send a mail. Here is what I have got.

Quote:

Aug 30 16:02:11 Sapphire-home postfix/smtpd[6012]: initializing the server-side TLS engine
Aug 30 16:02:11 Sapphire-home postfix/smtpd[6012]: connect from Sapphire[192.168.*.*]
Aug 30 16:02:11 Sapphire-home postfix/smtpd[6012]: lost connection after UNKNOWN from Sapphire[192.168.*.*]
Aug 30 16:02:11 Sapphire-home postfix/smtpd[6012]: disconnect from Sapphire[192.168.*.*]
I cant seem to get any information on what this error means yet I can still send emails via my email client on the same machine and also via the command line to anyone in the world.

Its just squirrelmail and this postfix error. Its prob something simple I have missed somewhere :)

Looks like I was too quick in posting and asking for help.. I just had a look around the configs in squirrel mail and I didnt have the SMTP side (option B) set up correctly.

After a quick adjustment all is working now.
