squid question

I am running squid when I check that is squid running or not then I came across and other squid process the second on below can u tell me what's the purpose of the second process (i.e; (unlinked) (unlinked))

/usr/local/squid/libexec/unlinkd -unlinkd removes old objects from the cache.
