spybots?


can websites plant spyware, spybots, or tracking software/methods within a linux system ( other than cookies )? if so, is there any software or methods for detecting and removing them.

Not unless they use a browser exploit to do something more malicious, like install a trojan etc. Keep patched and dont use root+GUI, people

They can't do it in WIndows either IF you set your internet security to high (or do a custom and turn off all activeX, Java and Javascript) in IE and turn off cookies AND you stay up to date with security patches.

yub but thats only IE related for the most part....most of the programs that come out for windows are spyware raped...prime example kazaa which puts the *.dll right in your windows directory
