Spell check and page up and down missing after update

Kubuntu 11.10/KDE 4.7.4/Firefox 9.0.1

I did some updates a couple of weeks ago. Now I don't have inline spell check on most websites and page up and down keys don't work. I go to Edit/Prefferences/Advanced

The use cursor keys and spell check boxes are checked off. However, the OK and Apply buttons at the bottom are missing.

You mean the Preferences dialogue within Firefox?

- You need "Check my spelling as I type" to be on ... I would assume. But there are still web sites where it doesn't seem to take effect - for exxxxample here, in quick reply. But that's always been the case. (Inline spell check is working for me atm in some sites.)

- Even on KDE that dialogue does not have OK | Apply buttons, just Close. Again, I think this has always been the case.

Well I just fixed the problem. If anybody else is interested, right click in the text box, click on Languages, click on English/US or whatever you choose.

Now about page up and down?

Is there something in system settings I need to check?

Interestink. Mine is set to 'English (Australia)'. How did that happen?

Are your pgdn/pgup keys on a numeric keypad? That would be affected by num lock.
Do these keys work in other applications, like terminal, LibreOffice, etc?

The page up and down keys are in a separate section between the regular keyboard and the number pad. Strange, they seem to be working now in Firefox and other programs with or without numlock.

Thanks for the reply. I have some other problems to work on too.
