Just about a month ago, I stumbled across and article that described breakthrough bridge software that would allow you to use Windows applications on Linux. My friend, Insane103, have been discussing this and wondering whether it is just a WINE or Crossover office rippoff.

This software is known as Project DAVID and is being created by Specops Labs.

I find some of this pretty unbelievable...

"According to SpecOps's technical executives, David used reverse engineering to create a "Windows Subsystem Simulation Environment" to allow Windows applications to run "natively" on the Linux operating system.

It also corrected design flaws in the Microsoft Windows system to make the simulation more efficient and avoid system crashes."

If that is true, I will discharge all over the place!

But the way things are going, it doesn't seem too promising.
The official site, http://www.specopslab.com has been under construction for sometime.

These screenshots don't show anything truly amazing. Crossover Office and WINE are perfectly capable of doing what is depicted.

One of these Screens has a file that lists a directory of usr/bin/wine!

This could be that Project DAVID is just a wine or crossover office repackaged. Insane103 and I discussed it and concluded that it may be someone unrelated to the company just wanted to help the project and decided to post screenshots of crossover office saying its DAVID, which are just making it look fraudulant, or maybe that was their plan?

I read on their website that they are going to charge about $22 for their software. If all of this is true, then I will all over it when it comes out!

What does everyone else think about this?
