specifying between gcc 4.0 and 3.3

My system has two versions of GCC installed: 4.0 and 3.3. The default is 4.0 My kernel was compiled with 3.3, and I need to compile a driver which requires me to use 3.3. Is there an easy way to set up a path variable or something that would make the default gcc be 3.3 and not 4.0? Any help or advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

yes, create a sym link in /usr/bin

ln -s gcc-(versionwhatever) gcc

that way, when programs call for gcc, they get which ever one you are currently pointed too.
