SPAM Filtering

We currently POP our email from a hosting company. They do some SPAM filtering but a lot still gets thru. I know Exchange has a feature that can be setup to POP the email from the hosting provider and then distribute it to the users. That way you can put SPAM filters on it for filtering like spamassassin.

However, we are on a very tight budget and would rather not by exchange. I was wondering if anyone is doing this sort of filtering with an open source product like Postfix, Sendmail, or whatever. Or, if someone has different idea.

Thanks,

Aaron

Does the spam have to be filtering before going to the users, or can you just have the users themselves filter it with, say, the junk mail filter on Thunderbird? That's how I filter my spam (both at work and at home).

It will need to be filtered before going to the user. Our users use Outlook 2000.
