Question Spacewalk and kickstart profile question

Hello All.

I'm using spacewalk 1.8 & Cobbler for automatic deploying RHEL systems. Spacewalk generates Kickstart script for profile.
I can see these generated scripts in /var/lib/rhn/kickstarts/wizard on spacewalk-server.

Could somebody tell me where I can find template which used for kikstart script generation?

Thank you.

I can't remember completely offhand, but as I recall, the templates are fairly easy to find within the spacewalk data under /var. Just try a few things like "find /var/lib/spacewalk | grep ks" and I'd imagine they'd pop out.

BTW, When I was knee deep in Satellite and Cobbler, I found it significantly easier to broadly cut most ties between the two systems. The templating that is possible within Satellite / Spacewalk is very limited compared to just doing it yourself within Cobbler and editing the ks templates directly. I also coupled these builds with Puppet, using the actuql kickstart build to do as little as possible other than getting the new build registered within puppet and then letting puppet do the customized configuration of each type of system I built.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your answer. I've tried to find files which you mentioned (actually i've tried to find any files which may be look like ks-templates) but I was unable to find them in /var. I've just found a few files (which are sample ks-scripts in cobbler directory), but there wasn't spacewalk templates. I'll keep looking for them...
