I would need to convert ogg vorbis files into mp3, and for that I tried using SoX. An error message said, however, that mp3 encoding is not supported. On their website they say that it indeed is supported, but only with an external library. I have libmad 0.15 installed (/usr/lib/), so I'm not sure why that is not ok for SoX, or why i can't find it (if that is the problem).

Does anyone know which library i should install? I couldn't find further clues or links on their website at sox.sourceforge.net. Or if you have recommendations for other software that could take care of the mentioned convertion, i would be thankful.

Simplest thing would be to install LAME. It'll provide the libraries you need, not only for Sox but any other programs that use MP3 files.
