source code for little linux programs

I was wondering where I can find the actual source code for some of the little commands because I wanted to play with them a little bit. I wasn't sure where to find them on my redhat 9.0 system or online if need be. For example the little command line program cal to display the calendar, where is a good place to look for source code for that sort of thing?
