sound works with root not user

I'm using slackware 9.1 and mozilla 1.4

I am able to here the sound of the websight, noggin.com, when logged into x as root, but not when logged into x as user. All other sounds work fine when logged in as user:xmms, gaim, when programs open and close. I have know idea why, do you?

I just checked to see if this sight works with konquerer, and it does. There seems like maybe their is a setting in mozilla that controls sound. if so I can not find it.

hmm.. you could try to move the mozilla profile away (rename the .mozilla directory) and see if it helps.

nogging.com seems to be flash product so the sound producing have to be passed to the plugin.

Do you use esd or arts? If so (and if not), you could try set different values for MOZILLA_DSP in /etc/mozilla/mozillarc (containing line like "MOZILLA_DSP=auto". Other possible values esddsp, artsdsp and none).

(hope this is not debian spesific setting)
