Sound switches ON and OFF

Hi

I recently installed Linux - fedora 10. This is the first time im working with Linux, I have no idea about Linux OS. My problem is when i playmusic in real player 10 or rhythm box, the sound switches On and Off. F10 detects my sound card, I believe there must be some settings that needs to be corrected, My sound card is inbuilt in motherboard(Intel). Please help me.!!!.Thanks in advance.

Regards
Riz

Just in case, as root, run 'alsamixer' and set levels. Make sure nothing is muted. Immediately that exits, run 'alsactl store'

Then download a file before playing it. Get an mp3 on disk and play that.

A few obvious things you can do.

Describe the problem more clearly. How long on, how long off? Where are the files you are playing stored? Pausing is not uncommon if you have a slow internet connection. Does it happen with a local file.

The kernel Documentation/sound/alsa may well have a note on your card. Have you read it?

The basic was this works is
1. You moan
2. We ask questions
3. You do the donkey work - answer them, try things etc as suggested
4. Someone diagnoses your problem and (sometimes) tells you how to fix it.
5 You thank people profusely :-).
