I recently installed Kubuntu on my desktop and it was working great. Then when I restarted my computer this afternoon the sound had stopped working all together. The /dev/sndstat file is empty as well as the /proc/asound/oss/sndstat. I thought I had a linking problem because at the same time I had a symbolic link to a folder on my Windows C drive that became empty, and stops working every time the system restarts, but because the sndstat files are empty I don't think that's the case. Any help or ideas? Thanks guys.

I forget to mention that the symbolic link to the C drive was broken because the C drive wasn't mounted. So that has nothing at all to do with it haha.

It just fixed itself. I don't know what I did, but now I'm scared to restart my computer, in case it breaks again haha >_<
