sound not working in SUSE 10.2 although sound card correctly configured
I installed SUSE 10.2 & the sound does not work. The sound card is recognized & configured & when I test it in YaST, it sounds great. However, I get the message "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or device found."
I cannot get any of the utilities that play CD's to work. I have installed everything labelled GStream as well as everything I can find related to sound or ALSA. Would appreciate suggestions. Thanks. |
go into /dev and make sure your sound card device has write access. im not at a linux machine so i cant tell you what it might be, check the output of lsmod, i believe it should show you your sound device there.

First you need to go to this thread and follow it step for step to finish the multmedia setup for Suse 10.2.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=509097 After this is done then go to your kmix controller and make sure the buttons at the top of the volume controls are on (green) and the volume control sliders are at the top. Any problems usually are having the right combination of buttons on. |
Thank you. I'll try to follow the instructions.
