sound mixing/editing?
 

what is the best sound editing program? like sound mixing and making, I have heard of ARTS (analog real time synthesizer) but i went to the project page and it say that the project has been inactive for almost a year now.

are there any alternatives?

Audacity is probably your best bet for simple stuff.

If you want to go the full 9, then Ardour should do the job. (You'll need ALSA installed and working, and a couple of other driver-esq things too).
