sound failure in fedora core 4
 
hi,
i am praveen using a pc with configuration as follows\
mother board-intel D101ggc
processor is 2.8ghz
ram 512mb
audio onboard realtek hd audio
i had installed fedora core 4 on windows xp with dual booting every thing is fine in linux but there is one thing that is sound card detection failure .what is the problem .how to recover sound device.for every time at system starting it is saying an error that there is no sound devices . and also there is also another failure about my modem why can't linux detected my modem .and when i attemp to connect dailup connection through kppp and system is saying error that there is no modem found or plz select from the devices follows and it is listing me some devices /dev/modem,/dev/---- and so on some thing at /dev/

FC4 is no longer a supported Fedora release. ("Legacy" support for FC4 was terminated last week.)
Try installing FC6 (or, wait 'till April and install FC7).

To see what was detected during boot, run the command dmesg | less in a terminal window or, if your system has everything on the PCI bus(es), try a /sbin/lspci | less

Oh, I seem to remember that, even if he sound card was detected (command: system-config-soundcard), the sound often seemed not to work because the ALSA mixer defaulted to a volume level of 0 at each boot.
