sound configuration in Redhat 9.0

I have installed Redhat 9.0 on my PC.The sound is not working.
I have tried to configure the sound but the sound configuration
command i.e., 'sndconfig' is not found in the system.Another command i.e.,
'setup' is working but the sound configuration option in it is not showing.
I have tested the sound for its proper working,it is working.but
I can't listen the songs. Also XMMS player is not working.

It seems there is nothing wrong in ur sound card configuration since u can hear the test sound..

I guess the problem is with mp3 support in xmms which was removed from Red Hat version 8 onwards,u ll have to install some libraries to enable the same

check out the following link

http://www.gurulabs.com/goodies/downloads.php

and install the rpm for Red hat 9
