Sorry, you appear to be behind a firewall and are currently unable to use the Yahoo!


Friends i m new to Linux. we have running Red Hat 8.0 Linux Server as a proxy server and using this we are sharing Internet Connection.

from my terminal i am able to chat on yahoo messanger but as soon i m view my friend web cam the following error come :

"Sorry, you appear to be behind a firewall and are currently unable to use the Yahoo! Webcam service"
pls ne one help me how i can short out this problem.
pls tell me the step by step proceduer as i m new to Linux.

If you really mean RH 8, that's years old and no longer supported/updated.
Try moving up to eg RH Fedora Core 6 or 7.
You'll have way more chance of getting things working/help from other users.

Maybe video via webcam goes through a different port?

Try allowing all of those (or the ones you need) through your firewall & Proxy.

Also try going to the Connections section in Preferences and make sure "Firewall with no Proxies" is checked. This will force Messenger to send information through HTTP. I don't know if it'll affect webcam transmissions but it's worth a try.
