Something like Digital Performer?

Is there anything like Digital Performer for linux? I'm taking an Electronic Music Class, and I was wanting to play around with it at home. Thoughts?

So far what I have found is Ardour for full fledged DAW software. For quick audio only editing, I really like audacity.

how does it work? do you use ardour? I've played around w/ audacity, will it allow composition?
