Exclamation Someone please please give me a hint about the soundrecorder

Hi,

This is my third post to this site. I posted the other two posts in the hardware forum. No answer . I am trying to connect my mixer to my computer to record some wave files. After a bumpy start, I figured where all the wires are going. All good there... Now I want to record using GNOME's soundrecorder. Well... the soundrecorder does something, but when I want to play it, first of all, I am not hearing anything but noise (might be a problem with the soundrecorer mixer, not the external mixer) and second of all, soundrecorder hangs and then crashes on me.
This seem to be a bug reported before on the GNOME website... problem is, I am a newbi and I have no clue on the whole wide world what those people in that forum are talking about. Something about duplicating something somewhere....., actually here's a sample of what they're saying:

Debugging Information:

I don't use Gnome, or the gnome soundrecorder. I do, however use apps to record, edit and modify wav files and MP3s. I use audacity and glame. Both are perfectly capable of doing what you want, and more. The versions I use don't seem to have any bugs - audacity 1.1 and glame 0.6

So, my advice would be to install either of these and use them instead. Which distro are you using? Would you need rpm versions or the source to install?

Edit - I just looked at your other post - you need an rpm - look at this page and follow the link - http://freshmeat.net/branches/12770/
