some X tweaking

I have the following situation:

I'm in win* running 1024x768 resoulution and my desktop is centered correctly. When i boot into Linux, my X screen/desktop (same 1024x748) is shifted for about 0,5 inch (1 cm) to the right. So i have 2 addjust my screen/picture with monitor menu every time i'm switching from one OS to another.

My Q is, how can i configure X (any nice tool?) so my screen/desktop will be centered every time i switch from win* to Linux and opposite.
