Some questions about cygwin

With cygwin inside of a Windows environment, is it possible to do the following?

1. install cygwin via command prompt (DOS)
2. create a ramdisk in cygwin

It seems like people want to do number two. I'm not sure how that would be accomplished.

How could number two be accomplished?

I'm thinking that gcc would have to be installed, and then maybe an entire kernel or distro would have to be created. Because if I understand right, it's the kernel that allows a person to create a ramdisk. Now, I'm not a kernel or super linux programmer, so I'm not too sure about that. But I was reading that it could be possible, but people just speculated and never went any further with their speculation.

1) See FAQ: 2.1: http://cygwin.com/faq.html

2) A RAMDISK would require support from the underlying OS (Windows). You can't build a Linux kernel under cygwin and expect it to run under Windows/Cygwin. Cygwin is not an emulator or VM.
