sorry, as I was typing, I needed to copy some output an realized I read something incorrectly, and the problem is now solved.... mods delete if it doesn't look like useful information...
I am running FC3 (latest kernel) with mysql 4.1.9 installed and running, along with other server software... I downloaded and un-tar'd the mysql-administrator tarball per the instructions from the mysql site. Now, for the problem...
When I try to run
mysql-administrator from the /bin directory of the installation, I receive the following error message:
Code:
./mysql-administrator-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
ok, fair enough, I know FC3 uses v6, so I searched about and there is a compat- package that is supposed to resolve this issue.
and this is where I put on my jack a$$ hat...
???
I ran
yum b4 and swore it said the package was installed, but I guess when you spend as much time on the pc as I do, the eyes are the first thing to go...
yum install compat-libstdc++.i386
that did it, now off to get my tomcat JNDI connector installed so that I can get down to business!
