Software unable to install

I was just trying to install a piece of software and it was missing a dependency which I subsequently installed. I tried to install it again and it still doesn't think the dependency is installed. I've seen this many times before too. What causes this?

urpmi PACKAGE NAME

It takes care of finding the software and all the dependencies for you :-)
