Software to monitor hardware status?

My computer reported that the fan is going down soon :(

would like to get an app in linux to monitor its status.

Anyone know of any good app in KDE that can do this monitoring?

It would help to know which distro you are using, so that those who know that distro can tell you what tools are available.

I use that in my ~/.conkyrc to display some info on the bottom of my desktop, fan speeds is something it can read so might be worth a shot.

It is normal of me to hunt for answers and no matter how hard I try, I just couldn't find any.

the minute I ask/mail or post it in a forum, I started finding things in google. ahhh !!!
