software to compare/merge text file

I have been using beyondcompare to merge file line-by-line on Wins. I want to find a similar software on linux. Is there a good opensource one out there? Meld does not merge line easily.

Linux comparison program

Try http://www.thefreecountry.com/progra...mparison.shtml

Beyondcompare is available in a linux version or you could also try ECMerge: http://www.elliecomputing.com/Produc...e_overview.asp

I would suggest you take a look at vimdiff. Vim on its own is a very powerful editor, but the diff functions work to do a line by line comparison of files, and it has some merging abilities too.
