I have a centos 6 system installed with a software RAID1 .. then after a couple of years I realized I made a mistake cause I need the space on the other hard drive..
is there a way to disable software raid for good without having to reinstall the system?? cause I can't afford to format and start over cause I have so many softwares and modules and stuff installed..
Well, you could degrade your raid 1 to a single disk by removing the disk you want to use... not exactly what you asked but it'd work. "Remove" as in mdadm not physically
For the most part mostlyharmless may have the easy answer. I have some computers that have drives that have gone bad and just left them until we get some maint time.
It has been a very long time but I feel sure I read how to undo it for good.
