Software on Windows
Hello!
Firstly, I'm sorry not for searching for the same topic fist. Then I'm sorry if I didn't post to the right category. There has been many spoken and done about running Windows applications on Linux (with Wine and so on...), but what about vice versa? I found a great Linux app, which is yet not ported to Windows. Yes, I know - I just could install Linux, but the circumstances don't give me that option. So, what should I do? Thank you for your futher help and replies. Regards, BIG_Yack |
If you really don't want to wipe windows off your machine ;) you can try to install Linux in a Virtual Machine environment. I can suggest VirtualBox, which is easy to install (they provide Windows binaries), easy to configure and easy to run.

You can install Cygwin which runs Linux apps under Windoze box. You then install the apps you're interested in under Cygwin.
I've used it to allow sshd to work to a Windoze box. |
@colucix: Yes, I am familliar with virtual machines (I use VMWare). But I am asking this for a friend that isn't (familliar with virtual machines).
@jlightner: Thank you! That was just what I was looking for. I will test it in future and post "my results". |
