software for ipod - existing ipod from xp, need to pull songs from and use on linux

whats is the best software for ipod on linux?

I have an 80gb ipod - that was being used on a windows box. Wife took her computer to work, now im stuck with an empty fedora box.

Need to 1 get the ipod working on linux, without erasing my existing songs on the ipod, and two; pull all my songs onto my linux box.

Any links or advice you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked into using Amarok? It's the best program on linux thus far imho.

Thx for the feedback is it easy to use with IPOD - and can i just plug and play my existing IPOD with no trouble.....also how bout pulling the songs from ipod to hard disk

I am in a similar situation, and will first go to the website of the iTunes compatible company, and view their docs, to see if indeed it is a simple replacement for the mac/windows iTunes software, and works well.

Patience is truly a virtue.
Plus you don't want to lose the gems on your iPod accidentally do you?

Hey, I just found this, it looks very interesting.

All I did was google "iTunes for Linux" and there were many choices.

But this looks really good.

It says it can get iTunes 7.3 to work in Linux with a workaround. Offers screen shots to help you.

I haven't the time now to explore but this should get you going.
