Software for drawing charts (visio-like)
 

I used to be a slave of M$, and now i wanna be a master of Linux :D. The thing is after switching to Linux, I discovered that I need a lot of applications to fulfil my daily job. I'm currently looking for an application that can draw charts (like Micro$oft Viso). Can anybody help me out please? (I'm using Fedora core 3, GNOME desktop)

Take a look at DIA and Kivio.

DIA seems more suitable for me as I'm using GNOME. Moreover, I don't fancy installing KOffice since I've already got OpenOffice. Many thanks.

I'm using kivio under kde. I have no other koffice products installed. Installation put a menu item right along with the oo items, so from a user point of view it looks like it might as well be part of oo.

That's part of the beauty of Linux. Pick the best of breed and fit the peices together in the combo that you want.

But does it work the same under GNOME? Maybe I'd give it a try.

It will work as long as you have qt and kdelibs installed. GNOME apps will also work fine in KDE as long as all the right dependencies are installed. Personally I prefer Kivio to Dia, but I am a bit biased towards KDE.
