software for creating on-screen tests

I was wondering if anything like this exists in linux preferably mandriva

I found this link in one thread
http://www.linux.com/archive/articles/46621
but as far as I understand the text after brief reading it refers only to creating multiple-choice questions but Im a language teacher so for me some other forms of questions/testing are necessary [ie some specific input and/or translation etc]

Id really appreciate it if sb could provide me with some suggestions

thanx in advance

I wonder if you mentioned "Creating interactive forms with OOo Writer" open office org writer.

You'll get a better response.

There are just so many soft-wares available for GNU/Linux.

Which leaves your question rather ambiguous.

Maybe sb knows more.

Regards Glenn

Im sorry but I dont understand why U claim this question is ambiguous -- I need soft/application which will enable me to create tests [as easily as possible] which in turn will be completed by students on-screen instead of on-paper

I dont want to reduce this question to openoffice writer cos maybe there is another app/soft which covers a bigger variety of test types plus it does the job in an easier way and/or faster

Never tried the software myself, but a quick google search gave me this result:
http://www.easytestmaker.com/

From the website: "EasyTestMaker is a FREE online test generator to help you create your tests. With Easy Test Maker you can create multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching, short answer and true and false questions all on the same test. You can also insert instructions and divide your test into multiple sections."

Is this what you are looking for?

well initially I thought it was but when I started using the application it turned out that easytestmaker just helps U create the test and print it -- Im lookin for app/soft which will enable students to actually do the test on-screen [in a sort of interactive way ie they choose or highlight sth etc] without the necessity of printing anything...

You might try Scribus. Perhaps that will suit your needs.
It has a steep learning curve, but is well worth the effort.

From the documentaion page: "Create interactive PDF forms and presentation documents. What is interactive PDF? Interactive PDFs have special features like hyperlinks, annotations (non-printing notes), bookmarks – a kind of an automatically created index for your PDF, as well as special navigation features – just like a web browser."
