Software for cloning macosx SO

Hi friends,
I want to erase totally macosx from a laptop Mac Book Air and substitute it with a Linux Ubuntu 14.04 based (cosmogonia.org/download).

Only, because the laptop is not mine, I would like to restore the old macosx SO, if something goes wrong.

I have used many time clonezilla, and it works very well, but never on macosx machines...

Do you know (anyone have tested?) any software capable to clone the entire SO and then restore correctly it?

Many many thanks!

Don't do it number one. Mess with your stuff, never mess with others. Trust me on this.

I'd consider making either a usb flash drive for what you want or use a virtual machine. Not sure if there is a free one for mac anymore but maybe at least qemu might be ported by a few.

You have to boot to some media that can access the hard drive fully. Some live cd's can do that usually. http://www.howtogeek.com/213396/how-...e-on-your-mac/

Don't do it.......

..look what I've tried using live usb on this laptop and all looks perfect! ...
..only for greater security I wish I could clone the system. I will write to the Clonezilla staff;-)

Thanks!

Clonezilla is just some common tools. You can use partimage or gparted and maybe dd to copy off boot area.

Yes, Clonezilla can be used for the disk cloning: https://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla...dd2f/?limit=25
